The cute hedgehog plush toy has a very distinguishable body with spines all over it's back. This creature can be found in parts of New Zealand, Asia, Europe and Africa.
There are around fifteen different hedgehog plush species. This unique mammal has been around for at least ten million years. They can survive in both cold and dessert climates. The hedgehog plush toy is one of few animals that can hibernate not only through severe cold weather but also through extreme heat and drought.
The diet of a hedgehog plush toy consists of berries, roots, mushrooms, snails, frogs, birds eggs, mice, snakes, worms and other insects. When hunting during the night for food they do not rely on their eyesight, due to poor vision. They use their strong sense of smell and hearing to detect food nearby or underneath the ground. Surprisingly, a hedgehog plush can swim well and even climb trees if needed to reach food. They also have a great ability to move through thick brush or hedges. When doing so they make a grunting sound, which is why they were named a "hedgehog".
The hedgehog plush toy is a very solitary creature, except during mating season. A female hedgehog plush can have up to eleven babies at a time. A baby hedgehog plush toy is born blind and do not stay with their mother for very long. The baby will start to lead their own life at only seven weeks. When the mother or baby is threatened by a predator, they will curl up into a prickly ball, which makes them inedible and scares enemies away.
