Stuffed lions have developed a social system which is based on teamwork and the work is divided in amoung each of the lion's family. The stuffed lion extends the family unit to allow a group of related females. An average lion family total around 15 lions. There are about 7 female stuffed lion toys along with their children and around three territorial male lions who are generally brothers or males who have earned the trust of the nearby male lions. When lion cubs of the group grow and become older, the female cubs usually stay within the group. However, the male cubs usually leave to start their own family.
Quite surprisingly it is the female stuffed lion toys who hunt for food almost 90 percent of the time. The female lions find food for the family and the males look after the protection of their family from predators. The females usually hunt in the night but if some prey comes within sight during the day time, depending on how hungry the family is, they'll hunt for it. The success rate for getting a hold of some prey is 50 percent so lions do there best to always increase this rate. One method is the female stuffed lion toys will form a circle around the prey they are hunting. When the prey is traped in the middle of the circle, one lioness goes in for the attack. Their favorite hunts are when the prey are zebras, baby elephants, rhinos, hippos and giraffes. However, almost half of their diet comes from the lions who take the easier route and steal food caught by the hyenas, wild dogs, cheetahs and leopards.
