Alligator Stuffed Animal Facts:
These alligator stuffed animals are fascinating carnivorous reptiles and have been around since the dinosaur age. The average life span of an stuffed alligator is about 50 years. All stuffed alligators have a tough "armored" body and a strong muscular tail. Adult alligator stuffed animals will have dark stripes on their tail, while baby stuffed alligators have bright yellow stripes.
Another distinguishable feature of an stuffed alligator is their extra long snout. They have nostrils at the very end of their nose, allowing them to rest and breathe air while their body is fully covered with water. Alligator stuffed animals have incredibly powerful jaws that can crack apart a turtle shell. Their favorite food to eat are nearby fish, frogs, birds and any mammals that come near the water's edge. They use their razor sharp teeth to capture and hold prey if it is large, until they can shake it apart into more smaller edible pieces. However, if the prey is small they will swallow it quickly in one major gulp.
Stuffed alligators are more solitary creatures unless it is mating season. A male alligator stuffed toy will protect their living area for up to two miles. All alligator stuffed animals "hibernate" during cold weather and dig tunnels under the water, which can be up to 65 feet long. The stuffed alligators will hide in their "gator hole" during severe cold or hot weather to protect themselves.
A female alligator stuffed toy can grow up to eight feet long while a male alligator's average length is eleven feet. These reptiles also weigh a lot, as much as one thousand pounds! During the summer months, starting in June female stuffed alligators will lay up to fifty eggs in their nests. They create nests by bringing mud, sticks, and vegetation together with their back feet. Sixty five days after laying their eggs, the baby alligator stuffed animals will make loud noises from inside their shells. After the mother hears this she will uncover her eggs with the nesting material and they start to hatch. When baby stuffed alligators are born they are up to eight inches long. The babies will stay with their mother until they are around four feet long. Alligator stuffed toys tend to stay with their mother for four years due to growing about a foot a year.
